The Lock, Stock producer is now a sought-after director
Matthew Vaughn took a confident step from producing cockney capers to directing the likes of Layer Cake, Stardust and Kick-Ass.
Having given the comic-book movie a damn good shake-up (and making a star of Aaron Johnson in the process) with Kick-Ass, Vaughn is at the top of his game. After a couple of near misses with Marvel (he almost directed X-Men: The Last Stand and Thor), he’s been handed X-Men: First Class.
That Vaughn has people eager to revisit a franchise derailed by X3 speaks volumes for the impact of Kick-Ass. And there’s always the possibility that he’ll revisit the characters he launched in mooted sequel Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.
